Congratulations to RIAM singing student Rebecca Rodgers on her recent win at the Clandeboye Festival. She won the Flax Trust Bursay which is worth £2,000. Rebecca performed Haydn’s Scena di Berenice displaying “an impressively fiery temperament and a voice already rich and powerful.” (Terry Blain, The Belfast Telegraph, 22nd August 2014).
Each August the festival outside Bangor, organised by Barry Douglas and Camerata Ireland, invites young musicians from throughout Ireland to attend masterclasses with top international concert musicians. A short film, directed by Dan Gordon and produced by Little Giant Films, hears from this year’s young musicians and what getting the chance to come to Clandeboye means to them.
